“I wanted to send you some #’s from before & after the installation of Hydrofin on our 22.5′ 2010 Bennington boat with a Mercury 115 (no stainless steel prop).

We have had the boat in the water (painted bottom & painted Hydrofins) since early May. We live on a creek off of the Chesapeake Bay so antifoulant is very important. We have had a very windy spring/summer to date; however, I finally made it out to record some #’s while by myself (same as the before #’s) last weekend. Best I can tell is that the MPH is increasing anywhere from 40-51.7% (and that is not wide open). The interesting thing is that the faster you go the greater the % difference. Another comparison is comparing the GPH at the same speeds. The GPH consumption is down 47.78%, amazing. We went from a top speed before of 22 to our fastest of 34 (one time / a tail wind). We can clock 30-32 most days / 3 or less now though I do not open up much as the boat tends to “fall-off” the hydrofins at top speed.

Another interesting thing is where we live we are subject to sand bars popping up in unsuspected places. We “ran-aground” one time (going fairly slow) and the hydrofins dug into the sandbar stopping us. When the tide came in we did a thorough inspection & no visible damage. Lesson learned be careful in shallow water.
